Poetry Walk on the High Line in NYC

After Sunset: Poetry Walk on Saturday, April 25th 2015, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., featuring a reading with Academy Chancellor Mark Doty, among other inspiring poets.

Enter the High Line park at West 26th street and stroll south to encounter a series of poetry readings at the Philip A. and Lisa Maria Falcone Flyover by Sarah Gambito, Saeed Jones, Taylor Mali, David Tomas Martinez, and Leigh Stein.

At the seating steps, enjoy a performance by top New York artists whose primary language is American Sign Language (ASL): poets Darren Fudenske, Douglas Ridloff, David Rivera, and Anne Tomasetti’s work will be performed by Maleni Chaitoo, John McGinty, Lewis Merkin, Lynnette Taylor, Alexandria Wailes, and Jon Wolfe-Nelson. Directed and produced by Other Voices.

Further south, witness the creative process unfold as emerging poets Wendy Chen, winner of the inaugural Aliki Perroti and Seth Frank Most Promising Young Poet Award, Mariama J. Lockington, and Camille Rankine reveal writing improvisations projected at the Chelsea Grasslands.

Get inspired by the powerful spoken word poetry performances of some of the Nuyorican all-stars: Lemon Andersen, Nancy Mercado, Maria Rodriguez-Morales, Edwin Torres, and Emanuel Xavier at the Sunken Overlook.

Finally, join us for the closing party with a reading by National Book award winner Mark Doty, music, and (yes!) a cash bar at Chelsea Market Passage
